Preserving the Pride of Thar — the Thar Parkar Breed

Among our most cherished work is the dedicated conservation of the Thar Parkar cow — a native breed uniquely adapted to the harsh climate of the Thar Desert. This magnificent animal is a symbol of Rajasthan’s pastoral heritage and has served the people of this region for centuries.

At Shreegopal Gaushala, we have created ideal conditions for these cows to thrive — vast open spaces, natural roaming freedom, and specialised care that honours the breed’s natural instincts and behaviour.

Our new 130-bigha campus, with open land and 2,000 planted trees, has been specially developed to provide a natural ecosystem where the Thar Parkar and other breeds can live as nature intended — free, dignified, and healthy.

🌱 Why Conservation Matters: With modern farming pressures, indigenous breeds face displacement. By protecting and breeding the Thar Parkar, Shreegopal Gaushala helps preserve genetic diversity, rural livelihoods, and a living heritage of Rajasthan’s desert culture.
